The motto - quel - of “Fortschrift”, which was created between 2013 and 2015, goes back to a forgotten anecdote reported by André Rolland de Renéville about Stéphane Mallarmé’s paperwork; Here is the wording: "Mallarmé had compiled a large number of small pieces of paper, the contents of which aroused the greatest curiosity among his contemporaries. He maintained absolute silence when asked questions about the matter and ordered that the papers be burned after his death. All I can say is that at a time in my life when I was working with Mallarmé on translating Whistler's Ten o'clock, I came to his house one day and found him in his study with one of those tiny ones Paper in hand. He remained silent for a few moments and then murmured as if speaking to himself: ‘I'm probably not even allowed to write this for you because I'm still giving too much away'. As I stood next to him, I read this single word on the piece of paper: quel (which). He put it back with his papers and I didn't have a chance to find out more about it." - To find out more? That's not the point; it's about doing something with it. The poem presented here in fifteen "rolls" is the result of multiple intensive readings and associative continuations of Mallarmé's late poem "Un coup de Dés jamais n'abolira le Hasard”
