Working Drawings and Other Visible Things on Paper Not Necessarily Meant To Be Viewed

Working Drawings and Other Visible Things on Paper Not Necessarily Meant To Be Viewed

The title is a paraphrase of Mel Bochners landmark project from 1966 as organized with the SVA. The last two words "As Art" have been omitted from the title.

The publication has 194 pages, was photocopied in an edition of 600 on the photocopiers of the cneai, Chatou (mostly on a Toshiba e-studio 210c, but also a konica 2223 and a Toshiba e-studio 120), handsorted, and bound in a Parisian copyshop.

It appears to me, that the signature of the author, be it an artist, cineast or poet, is the beginning of the system of lies, that all artists try to establish to defend themselves, I do not know exactly against what.

objet perdu

distorted rectangle ("waving"): Michalis Pichler at Revolver

Opening of an exhibition of the work of Michalis Pichler on Wednesday, July 25 2007 from 7 to 10 PM in the showrooms of Revolver, Frankfurt.

Stimmen zur Ausstellung/related voices:

The world is full of objects, more or less interesting. I do not wish to add any more.

I prefer, simply, to state the existance of things in terms of time and /or place.

More specifically, the work concerns itself with things whose inter-relatonship is beyond direct perceptual experience.

Because the work is beyond direct perceptual experience, awarness of the work depends on a system of documentation.     D.H.

If one focuses not only on the found object, but on the context it leaves behind when disappeared, this focus constitutes the objet perdu.     A.K.

In the New York Times Flag Profile, all 144 of the American flags from the New York Times issued on the first anniversary of September 11 have been cut out and pasted into a newspaper with everything else left blank.

Initially it was a handmade object, which involved meticulous handiwork and was relatively fragile.
The Production of a printwork in a larger edition made it possible to distribute the work to a broader audience for the price of $1.
In the beginning it sold mostly through exhibitions.
